Hai Duong is the capital of Vietnam's Hai Duong province. Hai Duong city is the provincial economic, technical, educational, scientific, medical, and service center, located in the Hanoi capital area and the Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh economic triangle. Hai Duong city is currently a grade I city that falls under the jurisdiction of Hai Duong province.

Hai Duong city is located in the center of Hai Duong province, 57 kilometers east of Hanoi's capital and 45 kilometers west of Hai Phong's port city, in the economic triangle Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh.

The city has an area of 11,164 hectares and a population of 508,190 people in 2018.

Rivers:

The Thai Binh river, which runs through the center of the city, and the Sat river, a tributary of the Thai Binh River, runs through the city. The Kinh Thay River divides Ai Quoc ward (Hai Duong city) and Lai Vu commune in the east (Kim Thanh district). There are also Bach Dang and Binh Minh lakes, which are the city's major lakes.

The name "Hai Duong" was given to the Hai Duong Citadel - Eastern Citadel in 1885, as one of the four citadels in Thang Long's four towns.

The coastal region, or land bordering the sea, is known as Hai (the ancient Hai Duong included a large land area stretching from Hung Yen to the sea of Hai Phong). Yang represents light, or the sun. The town of Hai Duong is located to the east of Thang Long Citadel. The sun rises in the east as well. As a result, Hai Duong translates as "East Sea sunshine" or "light from the (East) coast." Officially, the name Hai Duong dates back to 1469.

 

Let history begin.

Prior to 1804, the capital of Hai Duong province was Lac Thien (Chi Linh), also known as Van citadel or Van camp. After that, proceed to Mao Dien village (Cam Giang). To consolidate the ruling apparatus, the Nguyen Dynasty redistributed the administrative boundaries of the entire country in the third Gia Long year (1804), so the Hai Duong headquarters was relocated from Mao Dien to the confluence of the Thai Binh and Thai Binh rivers. Sat river, Han Giang, Han Thuong, and Binh Lao communes, 1,097 miles from Hue capital. Thanh Dong, the town and the eastern part of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, was founded by Governor General Tran Cong Hien to serve as the headquarters for the apparatus and military garrison. At the time, the East Citadel was one of the four cities in Thang Long's four towns. This is regarded as the founding year of Hai Duong.

During the Franco-Dai Nam War from 1858 to 1884, the French attacked Hai Duong citadel. From 1921 to 1935, the French attacked the Phu Luong Bridge in Hai Duong city.

Thanh Dong had no people at first, only mandarins and soldiers. Dong Kieu street was established by 1866 (Tu Duc's 19th year).By 1866 (the 19th year of Tu Duc), Dong Kieu street (which today corresponds to Tran Phu ward and a portion of Tran Hung Dao ward) had been established, with the administrative unit: Pho - Bordered by three streets: Dong Kieu, Dong My, and Tu Tan; many craft streets arose, including Hang Shoes - Rue Des Cordonnier (Son Hoa street today), Hang Dong - Rue du Cuivre (Dong Xuan), Hang Bac - Rue des Changeurs (Xuan Dai), and Hang Long - Rue des Parasols (Tuy An).

 

Economy

Hai Duong city is the province's industrial, commercial, and service center, as well as one of the Northern Key Economic Zone's industrial centers. Hai Duong City is now a major city in the Thua Thien Hue region. Hanoi is the capital. Along with Thai Nguyen and Viet Tri cities, Hai Duong will be invested in to become one of three regional center-level urban centers (grade 1) and the region's industrial center.

Previously, the Hai Duong city's industry was primarily known for the contributions of the Hai Duong Porcelain Factory, the Hai Duong Pump Manufacturing Company, mung bean cake production facilities, and a few other factories. However, after 2000, with the benefits of traffic, trade, and so on, the province and city implemented a plan to build industrial zones - clusters:

On March 24, 2003, Dai An Industrial Park was established. Km 51 of National Highway 5 in Hai Duong City. Dai An Industrial Park has a very convenient traffic location, along the highway No. 5 connecting Hanoi capital with Hai Phong port, located in the northern key economic region, the industrial park is 50 kilometers from Hanoi capital, Noi Bai airport 80 kilometers, Hai Phong port 51 kilometers, Cai Lan deep water port 82 kilometers, Cao Xa railway station 1.5 kilometers, Tien Kieu river port 2 kilometers. Area I is 189.82 ha (170.82 ha of industrial land and 19 ha of residential area serving industry), and Zone II is 474 ha (in which industrial land is 403 ha, residential area is 71 ha). Invested in a synchronous and modern construction that includes: electricity supply, water supply, drainage, traffic, communication, lighting system, logistics center, security, environment, and trees, and so on. There are currently 31 licensed projects; the total investment capital of projects in the IP is 422 million USD; made capital is 250 million USD; the average investment capital of 1 hectare of land is 4.7 million USD; the number of workers employed in the industrial park is approximately 6,800, with local workers accounting for 5,780 people, accounting for 85 percent. Currently, the industrial park has drawn many businesses from all over the world, including the United States, Japan, France, Germany, Korea, China, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

The infrastructure, services, and social security systems are all synchronized: consultation on business establishment and procedures for applying for an investment license; design and construction consulting services; freight services; warehouse services for storing goods; insurance services, import and export customs procedures; support worker recruitment; housing area for experts and workers to rent[19]. Dai An Vietnam Canada International Hospital (Dai An Vietnam Canadian International Hospital) is currently under construction with a USD 200 million investment capital and 200 beds.
